Nikwax Down Wash Direct has been specifically designed and optimised for down insulated products. It’s a highly effective cleaner which removes body oils and dirt from both the fabric and the down fill. It also restores the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) of both the outer fabric and the down clusters. This protects against rain and condensation, preventing your garment from wetting-out and maintaining down’s natural insulating properties. It also revives breathability, allowing moisture vapour to pass through your jacket, optimising the down’s performance in cold and damp conditions.

Unlike conventional liquid wash, NIKWAX Down Wash Direct reduces clumping of the down clusters during the washing process to assist in re-lofting back into shape.

To re-loft the down in your jacket, tumble drying is always the best option as it can help prevent the down clusters from clumping. Down Balls will maintain its performance and will prolong the life of your investment. Adding these balls during the tumble drying process will lift and separate the garments, allowing the warm air to flow through efficiently, reducing drying time by up to 25%.

Montissier's Puffer Buffer Cleaning Sponge is perfect for spot-cleaning marks on your down jacket, particularly make-up that can inevitably come off on your collar. Simply run under hot water and 'buff' off any marks and run along the inner-collar of your jacket to remove make-up quickly without having to get your jacket wet or go through the procedure of a full wash. Perfect for when you're rushing out the door in the morning.

Down Care Instructions 

For an initial clean, wipe any soiling or dirty marks with a Montissier's Puffer Buffer Cleaning Sponge and follow the drying instructions below. However, when thorough cleaning is required please follow these instructions:

Washing

• Unzip the hood from the jacket and remove any faux fur trim
• Handwash or gentle machine wash, ensuring to only use a front loader washing machine. To prolong the life of your jacket, handwashing is best.
• Only use down liquid soap, see our Down Care section for , and, if machine washing, ensure any powdered detergent residue is cleaned out from the compartment
• Soak for up to 60 minutes
• Do not use fabric softener
• Do not bleach, soak, or rub
• Gently squeeze out excess water and do not wring or shake the garment while wet in order to protect the down clusters

Drying

• Tumble dry on low heat, adding 2 x Down Laundry Balls to avoid clumps forming and to thoroughly redistribute the down
• Check-in on the drying process and softly toss to redistribute down and locate any remaining damp areas
• Repeat the drying procedure until completely dry which will ensure all down has been separated and re-lofted
• Do not store when wet
• Hang when not in use
• If a front loader machine or tumble drier are not available, we recommend professional cleaning
